How to Calculate EMI (Equated Monthly Installment)

EMI Formula: EMI = [P x R x (1+R)^N] / [(1+R)^N-1]

  • P = Principal loan amount
  • R = Monthly interest rate (Annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100)
  • N = Number of monthly installments

💡 Example: For a ₹5,00,000 home loan at 8.5% annual interest for 20 years:

Principal (P): ₹5,00,000
Monthly Rate (R): 8.5 ÷ 12 ÷ 100 = 0.00708
Tenure (N): 20 × 12 = 240 months
Monthly EMI: ₹4,307
